Color Blind-Friendly Diagram Update   Download PDF
Multiple management training courses at a company used the diagram on the left with appropriate quadrant labeling for mapping a manager's employees based on a popular four value assessment scale. During one particular course, the course trainer informed me that there was a manager with some degree of color blindness who was having difficulty using the diagram which is a legacy item that predated me at the company.

I drew on my experience with 508 compliance and familiarity with tools like the Coblis — Color Blindness Simulator and Adobe Illustrator to revise the non-compliant diagram to the 508 compliant color blind-friendly update on the right. As well, I utilized only colors from the corporate branding palette to make the update not just color blind-friendly, but also branding-compliant.

The manager taking the course was very appreciative of having a diagram he could work with and be able to fully utilize the training.
